Pastor Allan and Yamile Gray
Spokane Deaf Church has been serving the deaf community in Spokane for many years. Pastors Allan and Yamile Gray are both deaf and have been married for 38 years. They have 3 grown hearing children and are grandparents of 6.
Allan and Yamile both graduated from Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, TX. They have been serving in deaf ministry for the past 36 years.
They are very involved with God’s work around the world and have missions experience in Mexico, Colombia, and Dominican Republic. They have traveled throughout the US with the “Signs of Love” choir ministry and with the “Masters Hands” drama team. Both have taught at deaf retreats as well as deaf men and women’s meetings. Yamile is also gifted in leading worship and signing songs.
Jet and Dana Alexander
Elders & Missionary
Jerry and Dana have worked diligently with the Spokane Deaf Church for over 30 years. God has used them both in the past to preach, teach and lead the church in a variety of positions. Since 1986, they have been involved in missions to the Dominican Republic. Dana founded a school for the Deaf in 2008 in the D.R. and they have been dedicated to the success of that since then. At this time they are elders in the church with Jerry serving as treasurer. Dana makes regular trips to the D.R. with Jerry joining when he is able.
They are the parents of five children, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one foster Deaf child. They are both hearing. Dana is a graduate of Christ for the Nations Bible Institute in Dallas, TX where God called her to Deaf ministry and started her journey learning sign language and Deaf culture. In their words, “Our desire is to see Deaf people know their Savior Jesus Christ, and learn who they are in Him and then be able to pass it on to other Deaf.”
LeRoy and Jane Ramsey
Elders & Missionary
LeRoy and Jane Ramsey first visited Spokane Deaf Church when they returned to the US from China in 2010. Jane lost her hearing as an adult and LeRoy is hearing. They have two sons, one daughter and son-in-law and 3 adorable grandchildren.
Since 1985, LeRoy and Jane Ramsey have been involved in ministry in China. Their early work involved tent-making, evangelism and hospitality. That evolved into discipling, teaching, counseling, literature distribution and leadership. Now that they are based in the US, they travel to Asia at least once a year to continue their ministry of encouragement and pastoral care. Jane is the Special Projects Coordinator for Hearts and Hands, a program for the Deaf and disabled in China and serves as an advocate for the Deaf and hearing-impaired. LeRoy has written three books as well as a collection of poetry.
Darrell is hearing and the father of four children. His oldest child, Benjamin is hard-of-hearing deaf and first brought Darrell to Spokane Deaf Church in the fall of 2009. Darrell has a passion for our Lord Jesus and uses his gifts for music and computers to share his love for Christ. He serves the church as the “techie” consultant and is responsible for fine tuning all the music videos for worship. He also produces worship music videos for his own YouTube channel. His other love is the great outdoors.

Ron and Kathy Hill are both Deaf and have been married 47 years. They became active with the Deaf church in 1981 and been involved in missions to the Dominican Republic and Panama. Ron went on a mission trip to Panama in 1995 and both he and Kathy went to the Dominican Republic in 2003. Ron presently is a deacon and president of the men’s ministry.
The Hills have 4 hearing children and 3 adopted hearing children as well as 18 hearing grandchildren and 13 hearing great-grandchildren. Ron is retired after working for many years as a mechanic.
Their personal motto is ‘we serve Jesus’.
Don and Joann Reed came to Spokane Deaf Church in 2000. Joann has been involved with the Women’s Ministries since 2004. She has served as both president and treasurer several times over the years. Since 2015 she has been the secretary/treasurer. Joann has found it to be a real blessing to be involved in Women’s Ministries and working together with all the wonderful ladies.
Joann is retired after working many years at Washington Trust Bank as an Item Processing Clerk. She has 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Don passed away in 2014.
Joann was chosen to be a Deacon in the winter of 2015. She said it was very rewarding and a blessing to be involved in the church.
Joanne is hard -of-hearing deaf. She became active with Spokane Deaf Church in 2012. She has served as vice president of the Women’s Mission. Besides church involvement, she works as a volunteer in the kitchen for Silver Lake Bible Camp in Medical Lake, WA.
Her husband is Andrew Helm and they are the parents of two grown sons.
Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 103:1-5. Praise to the Lord of Love.
